Special gratitude to Dr. Shorna R. Broussard and and Ms. Alicia Haley of Purdue University, who in conjunction with United Way and our community partners, developed the Community Needs Assessment as a tool for identifying the most pressing health and human service needs in the community.

In addition to being used by United Way as one of the five determining factors in the development of our three impact areas, the information is valuable in other areas where funds should be directed towards the highest priority needs. Other organizations - both public and private  - can utilize the data to help inform their program and policy design decisions.

This study also serves as a report to the community in general on the state of health and human service needs and provides benchmarks from which to gauge progress. As such, this report can facilitate more community engagement around identifying and meeting the community's needs.

The information provides the community with baseline data about the state of the region, our quality of life and the challenges facing the area.
